The Little Shelford Entertainments Committee presents:

Shakespeare’s 400th 

Celebration Weekend

“Raising Funds for the Wale Playground”

Friday 9th – Sunday 11th September 2016

 

All events in the Marquee on the Wale Recreation Ground

 

 

 

Midsummer Night’s Dream Dinner Dance

Friday 9th 7.30pm for 8.00pm

Join us for a sumptuous Elizabethan meal from Shelford Deli, dancing to live band, “The Eye”, full licensed bar and charity auction with lighting by Simon Mackinder. Also,a “Shakespeare’s Characters” fancy dress competition. All in the Marquee on the Wale but with access to all the facilities in the new Pavilion, including comfortable and warm toilets!

As you like it Fun Afternoon - Saturday 10th

 

Join us from 1pm to 5pm for family fun, inflatables, Falconry Display, May Pole dancing, inter street Tug of War, Archery and many other attractions for young and old. BBQ all afternoon, Village society stalls of all types and for all ages.

1.30pm – Giant Bubble Blowing

2.30pm – Falconry Display

3pm – Piloxing

2pm Shakespeare in Cambridge


Andrew Muir, author of Shakespeare in Cambridge, will be giving a free talk by the Pavilion and then signing copies of his book with £2 per book going to local charities.  

3.30pm – May Pole dancing

4pm – Tug of war

4.30pm – Children’s games

2.30pm – Falconry Display


 


 

 

Measure for Measure Movie Night for Families and Teens    - Sat 10th 5.15pm & 7pm

Join us for two movies in the Marquee. No need to leave the Wale Rec, as we will fire up the BBQ and stay for some food and watch

 

5.15pm the family movie “Gnomeo & Juliet”, rated U, run time 82 minutes

and at 7pm Michael Fassbender’s MacBeth, rated 15, run time 110 minutes. This one is a bit more blood, guts and gore and we would recommend viewers stick to the recommended age rating of 15!

Sunday 11th - 11am

 

All Saints Harvest Celebration

 

All ages welcome, there will be songs and celebration for Harvest in the Marquee. Non-perishable gifts will be collected for Jimmy’s night shelter. Join us after the service for tea, coffee, cake and conversation. Stay for……..

 

 

Much Ado About Nothing Picnic Finale - 1pm

Bring your picnic, family and friends to an afternoon of live music from “Shakey Breaks the Ice”. Relax in the sunshine!

Please come along and support us in bringing the villagers of Little Shelford, their friends and families together for fun & friendship.

 

 Our main fund raising focus this year is the Wale Playground but if you would like us to consider donating towards your Village Group in 2016 please contact us.

Horizontal Scroll: Enter the “Shakespeare with passion”  recital competition, running over the whole weekend. Read aloud with passion and feeling your favourite Shakespearean  passage or sonnet  at any of the events (4 minute limit). Prize for the best under 18 and best Adult.
