Little Shelford Good Neighbours survey 2018

A village full of Good Neighbours – what next?

Many thanks to all of you that completed our recent survey asking what ‘things’ would be used if provided in the village and who might be keen to help.

We had a nearly 45% return rate from our 347 houses: huge thanks to the 50+ neighbours that delivered them to your doors and to Charles Kingdon for organising it all. The full results are on the Little Shelford website. All the many things listed would be used by some and help was offered by others for each or them. That was the case for the various ideas within ‘visits’, ‘help’ and ‘transport’. There was also keenness to see more regular get togethers for tea/coffee, perhaps with some games and or craft.

22 would use a ‘singing group’ – but perhaps we would be better linking them to the excellent ‘Come and Sing’ sessions already organised by Lucy Barlow at the Stapleford Granary.  Just turn up at 7.45 pm on October 18, November 16 and December 7.  But perhaps you might need help with transport….

There was a fair interest in various craft and game groups. The 15 looking for an art group should be aware that there already is one – contact Victor Franklin on 01223 842276 or victorfranklin123@btinternet.com.

Head to head in the lead with 32 likely users each were the ‘walking group’ and a ‘yoga group’. There is already a yoga group running at the Pavilion and a walking group would surely be a relatively easy thing to get started – and we all know it’s a good thing to do!

Many other ideas were offered including things for those with children.

We presented the results at the Little Shelford Fun Weekend and got a few more comments. If you have other ideas, want to get on our list as a user or helper, or want to help with organising, please contact Richard Patterson on richard.patterson@mottmac.com or 01223 842 998.

The group that put the survey together will soon be meeting to discuss the next steps. Look out here and on the Little Shelford Website.
